something NEW for Game Developers to Get Excited About

Poser Pro Game Dev delivers powerful 3D character animation tools and real-time ready character content to game and interactive content developers. For 20 years Poser has been the preferred 3D character system for professional artists and animators. New Poser Pro Game Dev includes a set of game asset creation tools including Figure Combining, Polygon Reduction, Unseen Polygon Removal, FBX import/export and Kinect for Windows® support, all designed to produce size-efficient 3D character assets and scene files for gaming and Unity®.

New Features Sneak Peak

Poser Pro Game Dev includes a 5GB library of 3D characters, clothing, props and scene elements that you can export for delivery in your game.

Our new Polygon Reduction system allows you to dial in reduced polygon levels to whatever your interactive needs require. Reduce polygon counts in figures, individual body parts and props.

Figure combining which allows multiple conformed figures to be baked into a new single figure.

Unseen Polygon Removal in Poser Pro Game Dev will allow content developers to automatically or manually remove occluded polygons hidden under clothing or outer figures.

With Poser Pro Game Dev, you'll be able to connect your Kinect for Windows® device to drive Poser biped figures, and capture animated motion right in your Poser scene.

FBX, the adaptable file format for 3D animation from Autodesk®, is the most common method for integrating animated 3D assets into Unity. Poser Pro Game Dev now provides robust import or export of FBX data, including fully rigged and animated 3D Poser characters.

Stayed tuned for the August release!

All built on the foundation of Poser Pro 2014

Poser Pro Game Dev is based on our popular Poser Pro 2014, with added features to support the 3D character needs of interactive and game content developers. Poser is the fastest way to add 3D figures into any project, animation or illustration. With an intuitive interface, Poser makes it easy to pose, animate and render.

Hi Chopper - I don't think any of the new features will break the Poser plugin - so will hopefully all be good.

Octane and the plugin work fine with the Poser Game Dev version

There are a couple of things in it which may be of help in octane. One feature of this edition is that a figure or prop can be exported to fbx (and imported again) with a Texture atlas. So if you have one of those props with very large (and many) textures which consume all your VRAM, you can now import it again with a single texture map (and transparency and bump if applicable). This can be very useful for background props.

You can also reduce polygon count on existing props and figure which can be also be useful for background fillers. You can do this on compound figures as well (figure + clothing + hair) with the option of removing unseen polygons to avoid poke through

So it is useful for non game developers as well.

Well, but they don't deliver 5GB of new (read: hi-quality) content, I suppose? :D

This looks interesting. Are there any previews/demos on the poly reduction feature? Does it work any better than the "auto-retopology" tools in programs like 3D Coat, Zbrush, Mudbox?

No real changes to the existing toolset (apart from bugfixes)

The reduce polygon function has some options in it to guide the reduction. Whether it is any better compered to other programs, I do not know (I have never used them)

There will be added more on this page and on facebook in the next few days

Cool, thanks wimvdb! This is a standalone product, not some free extension to PP 2014, right?
