The AMIs are virtual machine shells that are not tied to a specific Octane version, but optimized to support Octane in general through our remoting stack.
We have seen users install Octane ( pretty much all versions) on the AMIs for remote GPU power, that will be deprecated shortly after we launch the Cloud Edition. OCE will expose Octane as a service (version 2.0+), which will make using Octane in the cloud much cheaper and simpler than trying to run it on the current AMIs, and also enable a proper SDK for the cloud specific features for 3rd parties to use.

Is there an ETA on OCE?
How is the 4D procedural texture support coming along?

1) Not long. We expect to have a more solid ETA in the next month or so.
2) What procedurals are you referring to specifically?

To start, 4D simplex/perlin noise. Combined with compute/geometry shading (marching cubes), and fragment shading there's a lot of cool possibilities.

Perhaps I'm not up to date on everything. Kinda tight on cash, hoping to jump on board when the cloud edition is out. All I can do for now is read. Anything I can read while waiting, would be much appreciated.

Have you had a chance to try out the demo version?

Just installed. My laptop has an Intel gpu, so no love from the demo version. Is there any other way to get at the docs?

Hi, you mean SDK for current plugins developers or public SDK?
