if you were using Coinema 4D you would use the Displacement Modifier.
You can mix many manps into one layer there.
But I don't know how it works in other software.

I haven't tried it, but there is a mix texture node so that seems like it should work.

AFAIK, you can't do it in Standalone. You can only have a texture, plugged into the displacement node. Can't invert it, or mix it with anything including procedurals.

Maybe you can mix two mix materials, but it's kinda ridiculous...

Nope, cause when you use a Mix Material node, that's where the displacement node plugs into

the mix material works on diffuse, bump or normal but not on displacement slot... maybe i should try the maya version see if works with blend texture.

Did you read my post? When mixing a material, it is presumed you are projecting the 2 materials on the same underlying geometry, which is why the displacement input goes into the mix node.

I read your post but didn't make sense to me. how can you go from displacement to mix node ? it only allow the other way around which is mix node to displacement texture.

I'm talking about Mix Material, not Mix Texture.
