Which GPU card for Mac Pro?

Hello there, this is my first post here :)

I'm considering to purchase Octane in the next future.

I've just bought a 5,1 Mac Pro and I would like to know which GPU card is best....

I can get a GTX 780 6gb for 650€, or GTX Titan Black 6gb for 1500€.

I was wondering about GTX 780 "double-precision floating-point math" support...

Could you advice me?

Thanks!

Octane uses single precision so don't worry too much about double point flops.
The Titan Black is more powerful but the 6GB 780 will be better value for money. The 780 is slower than the Titan black, but not that much slower.
You could get two of them for less than the titan black and two would be a good chunk faster than a single Titan black.

The 780 6GB is a good value for sure. The only downside for using it in a Mac Pro is the cooler design. Since the 6GB versions of the 780 are only dual ACX style, not the reference "blower" design, the hot air gets circulated back into the case. In a Mac Pro, the PCIe area is separated from the other compartments and relies on airflow going front-to-back out of the case. Except there's only one case fan in that compartment (an intake fan). So there's the potential of a lot of trapped hot air in there, possibly resulting in very high GPU temps. I'm not saying it won't work—it may work beautifully—just something to be aware of.

You could install water blocks on each card and have zero issues with heat.
