Brilliant image. Love the detail. Only comment would be that the timber looks almost too clean - like it was painted yesterday. I would expect to see some small / subtle irregularities in the paintwork of a restaurant table like that.

Best,
Seeker

thx all for comments.

@waterthinking

the texture is taken from evermotion Archinteriors pack.
Belive it or not but this is just a glossy material with bump (with very low specularity). That's all.

@Seekerfinder

Agreed. This was done within a day, modelling the sunglass took most of my time (iPhone model is from turbosquid).
Now I would have weatherned the wood a little, it is missing some dirt.
Oh how I wish I had like a week or two to do this.

Finally the client wanted to go with a less clutered scene, maybe he was right:

Ah, a quicky. Very good for a day's work. If you put your rig info in your signature that helps the rest of us know what you work on. I'd been interested to know your GPU spec and how long the rendering took.

For me, I like your fist shot more. It just tells a better story. And, if you ever get time I think some caustics from the rosé and the sunglasses would look great on that table!

Best,
Seeker

you read my ming Seekerfinder. I thought about caustics on the table - I actually thought these should render. I don't think there's a separate option for thins in the render settings?

I thought the light source is just to week to create them?
I thought about lighting the glasses more with a blackbody emmiter but I figured I might overlit the scene + I didn't have much time to experiment.
I'm sure to read more about the caustics in Octane. The glasses refelctions + the caustics would be a killer.

I'll update my signature in a sec. I use a Titan black card. With i7 2600k processor.
The image was 5000x3234 and I've set the samples to 32000 and left the computer overnight to render (I left work at 6 PM).
In the morning (9 AM) I think there was smth like 12000 samples done and I stoped the rendering. In some areas it's still a bit noisy, but I actually needed this image only for web so after scaling it down like 3x it looks good enough.

Hi Portnicki,
There are some threads on caustics and in particular Roeland has posted some useful guidance on it. Just be aware that caustics can increase render times a lot.

Thanks for sharing your info. I wonder if pathtracing would be slightly faster - duno. A twilight shot (with a candle perhaps) would also be interesting with your scene. When you have time to mess around...

Best,
Seeker
