Someone asked me to give them some jewelry product viz samples and, well, I haven't really done a lot of product viz. So I tried to take on something I could accomplish during the holiday break that also wouldn't take the whole weekend to finish. Not thrilled with the stitching — next time I'll use hair for real threads — but my rusty hard surface modeling skills used up most of the time I set aside.
Either way, I enjoyed the process, am pleased enough with the result, and hope you enjoy something from it.

Hi riggers
The modeling looks pretty good, lighting pretty good. Your issues with stiching are spot on. Need more work there. The biggest issue for me is the composition. It's just shot dead on. Nothing interesting about the angle here. Bring your camera down and let the light do some interesting things. The crystal should be obvious and will create good reflections.
Good start, keep going.

Nice 'n clean, Riggles. Really like the metal texturing.

Thanks for critique Alec. I had planned it to be just one in a series of shots, but I didn't have time yesterday for the other angles. As part of a series, I think a dead-on shot is good, but standing alone, yea it's not that ingesting. Not dynamic. I think I got caught just replicating the reference image angle without thinking about the composition on my own. Good to remember for next time - when I revist this model to finish it up.

Thanks Seeker. I'm most happy with that surface texture.
