Exporting Via Plugin Fails

I am having trouble with the exporter with V5. Not sure what it is as I have had great luck with it up until last couple of weeks. I can't think what might have changed. Nothing with cuda or Maya has been upgraded in that time.
It exports out launches Ocatne then loads the OBJ. The materials load in the right hand side and as soon as it tries to display it crashes out.
If I load the obj that gets successfully written out into numerous other apps it reads fine and I can export it out successfully ... then am able to read it into Octane from launching independently of Maya. But if I go back into Maya and use the plugin and source the successful octane file it will crash pout again.
I can work around it. But for animation I'm stuck. The animation file gets written out but it still hangs at the same place and will not go on to the next frame.
Any ideas?
It has worked flawlessly for so long I can't think what it could be. I have done Standard WIN 7 upgrades but nothing to nvidia for a while.
