Network Rendering Speeds

So we're starting to deploy Octane 2 to our network and test network rendering.
What kicks in is obviously the beast called overhead, but it's much worse than expected.
With a 1Gb/s network, so ~100MB/s bandwith, octane only uses about 3MB/s in each direction.
Is this a setting somewhere we missed?

The small green worm is octane sending it's data to the slaves, the red worm is the slaves sending data back. The big red block on the far right is a file transfer with ~100MB/s from RAID to the workstation. That's quite a big gap. This data is true for both C4D Plugin as well as standalone.

Another question: network rendering works in the live viewer, but doesn't seem to kick in when rendering in the picture viewer?
