Exteriors

A major potential client asked us if we can create backyards and other outdoor environments.Location shooting is a pain for sure. They've yet to look into CGI to help them with their needs.

I put together some samples over the weekend and pitched them today. It went pretty fantastic. They loved the pitch and had no idea this kind of thing can be created on a computer. I had to be fairly careful with my language so I didn't freak them out too much. They are all long time photographers.

Anyway, here's some art. I'll take any critiques.

Thanks!

They look great, and that a lot of work to produce over the weekend.

Can you tell me a little about the leaf shaders.
Are you using some sort of SSS.

Cheers.

Wish You these potential clients would sell their Haselblads & Leica'as..starting to ask You viz for that money =) as always, beautiful stuff, Alec!

(Bit too sharp in some cases, vegetation mats could be worked out better, but..we all know how much time & resources it takes to make believable greenery =)

Yes, I use a mix material with a gloss and diff material. The Diff material has a scattering medium in the Medium channel and a little color in the Transmition channel. Instant translucency.

Thanks!

Cool, cheers for the info. I'll have to try that one on the next project.

Cheers.

These are brilliant! Well done alec. I'd love to see Octane kick that overpriced Lumion's butt on the landscaping side. Brigade might be interesting in that arena.

What did you model in? Is the grass a scattered geometry?

Best,
Seeker

He's got some. But he's losing them fast.

Ha ha ha! That was funny! I'm using the brilliant C4D plug in from Ahmet. He's a genious. No hair. The grass is Grass Kit for C4D. Great plugin. It's set up for Vray but it's easy to use Octane textures with it. Get it. It's awesome.
