Rust - True Detective fan art

It's been more than a year since last time I made a personal artwork, as family and daily work keep me super busy.
This is my attempt to create a realistic portrait of Rust Cohle, the main character of the great American TV show "True Detective".

It took me nearly two months of my spare time to make this, the base mesh and hair were created in Maya, sculpted in zBrush, rendered with Octane Render, and final tweaks in Photoshop.
I will show some wip images in the next days, I hope you like it. :)

p.s. Guess that's displacement on the wood isn't it? subtle..

Every time Rikk is showing us something it is a big thing

Rikk, tell us something more about the zbrush model - how many polys, subdivision levels, etc.

Flipping amazing. His face has a painted look about it. Can't decide wether that's a good or bad thing :).

Looks good! Slightly unnatural looking face, maybe the skin could have a bit more colour put into it (or something)? But the render looks pretty damn awesome for sure. Love the wood texture, you need to share the process for this render :3

Hi Rikk,

Really great sculpting, you are definitely very talented.
Agree about the face skin, it needs some more work, it looks unnatural, like painting, can't point precisely but overall something is missing.
Also I find Rust Cohle a bit too crisp compared to rest of the image, should be attenuated with some atmospheric environment. With some more work this will become a new master.
