WIP: Blueprint workup.

Before I switched professions I was a carpenter/framer of residential and commercial homes; so using sketchup to actually build a house, like I would on a real lot, has been something I've wanted to do for a while...

So I have some time in the evenings to work on it and thought I would share the process.

Nice work man! If you keep up like this with the details you will get great renders.

very nice idea and 'dreamy pics', but you should add some window(s) so the light will bounce more inside your future house ...

It will have windows, I am following the traditional method of house framing, window openings built into the frame, but covered over with plywood and house wrap, then later cut out. This provides additional structural support for the exterior walls prior to the interior wall being tied in...

I am not strictly following the methods, normally all the exterior walls would be raised first, then interior walls, followed by a top plate, joists and rafters... but it was looking a little boring so I used a little artistic license :)

It is also my intention to release the sketchup file under a non-commercial free and open license when it is finished...

that way people who are interested in arch-viz can see how a real building is put together, something they may not have the opportunity to be exposed to.

That's a really nice and interesting project. I hope for a time-lapse house construction video at the end. (just an idea ;) )
