Request for Compositing tags and Camera Projection

I haven't seen this request but since we use the C4d compositing tag so much I'm not sure why others aren't also more interested in this. It allows you to have so much more control over what an object is affected by than is currently available especially via the inclusion and exclusion tabs. Multiple skies and GI environments are not currently possible that are relatively easy with compositing tags. Are compositing tags hard to do?

The other request is for Camera projection which is a wonderful feature in C4d and allows the use of matt backgrounds and/or stills in much more creative ways. Even a simple ground plane with the compositing tag's compositing background feature turned on gives enormous latitude of movement and depth that can't currently be had with Octane as is.

That all said we are awestruck by the work flow and rendering quality that is now possible with Octane and that 2.0 will be making even better. It's why we're depressed when we have to go back to the stock C4d to do the things still impossible with Octane. With those two selfish options enabled we would be the proverbial pigs in poop.

these are really wanted by much users. I think you didn't encountered. Cameramapping is possible by two different method. c4d's texture tag or octane's perspective projection node. There is some example in demo scenes. You can find in 1.5x topic.
We can use only features which are supplied by Octane Render. This is gpu renderer and nearly imposible to add some features to renderer by plugins. Only we can add some effects with render buffers. I suppose we will see more rich features in future to be a better renderer in production area. Main problem is that way is slower than cpu renderers. We have to keep balance between features/quality and speed.

Thanks for your response, Aoktar.

We spent some time digging in and lo and behold got camera projection to work! I will post some of our technique next week, but for the time being we are able to take most of our camera projection projects and get them to work in Octane. There seems to be some distortion issues but hopefully we'll figure this out. For us that's huge as the combination of "real" backplates and CG is so important to us. As I'm sure it would be with people using matt paintings as well.

As to the compositing tag, it's such a hugely powerful tag but maybe there are ways to chip away at it. Some of our issues are hiding stuff from the camera. So if we're using HDRI Light Studio in an Octane environment we would like to be able to have an object see the lights but not the camera. Is that hard to do?

Another compositing tag feature which seems attainable is to have two separate HDR's in the environment tag instead of an HDR and daylight could we have two HDR'a one seen by the camera and one by reflection and GI(or two separate environment tags, one seen by camera, one by reflections and GI). The reason we use this is because we often want one HDR for the scene background and the other for reflections and lighting. In C4d the ability to have HDR's act differently via compositing tags on objects is a huge plus and so far we can't seem to make that happen in Octane. So maybe we're looking for just a seen by camera tag. Is that hard?

Again we'll post some results of the camera projection when we have them polished.

Many thanks for a really stable release of 2.0. We are excited about motion blur and can't wait to do more tests.

Tony

Hi , +1 with sparkworld.
I ve got really strange issues with camera projection..Maybe i loose some points? I really hope octane can match with camera calibrator in the future..

Hey Spankworld - would really love to see how you are doing the camera projection, i'm playing around with it but i can't add more cams and i did not find a way to propper make use of projection man together with Octane, did you ?

Hi guys,
I'm not expert this stuff. But it should work with c4d's camera mapping in Texture tag. How could not work it?
