Bonjour everybody,

This is of course still in progress, it's really a great software!
all comments are welcome (i know the bottle is 'flying' but i dont know how to go back in Maya to correct it, while keeping all the work done in the ocs)

Cheers.

although i dont know maya - my guess is the routine is similar with all exporters.
so this is how to update your scene geometry without loosing any work, done in octane. after correcting your scene in maya - export an "obj and materials only". (at least thats what its called in the c4d exporter. when in octane, there's a link to your obj file. you find it via a click on your scene-node. it lives on the very bottom of the node inspector. looking like the pic in the attachement.
when clicking on that "link" you can relink to your new obj.
simple as that.

Notice, that Translucency could be imitated via the transmission channel of an diffuse material.
It only works in pathtracing mode, i think.

Thank you very much for your comments!

GeorgoSK > thanks ;)

colin > exactly what i was searching for, Great! (didn't see that in doc, should be blind  )

MaTtY631990 > no sheen, but some specular showing on bump, how to do sheen ? is it something using fresnel ?

tungee > the transmission channel is available only when you can 'see' this diffuse material in the graph, for an unknown reason
i can not open my whole obj by doubleClicking, it stays in one node/container.
> also when i try to use pathTracing, unfortunately Octane or my system crashes(even blue-screens!) and i am on XP32 (watchdog problem related here : http://www.refractivesoftware.com/forum ... f=21&t=824) without space enough in my pizzaBox for a 2nd GPU ... so for now i will try to avoid pathTracing. :(

Nice job! about the bottle flying, you can try to adjust it in Maya and re-export the obj and replace the obj in your octane export folder, only the obj of course..

Yes, already did this, i will post a new version with the landed bottle soon,
but now i am re-doing shaders for petals and leaves, and i cant make this translucency slot work...

... for me this is not working even with path tracing
as you can notice on the picture i posted here, the sort of translucency was just a transparency in fact ... ;-)

Thanks

You can achieve the sheen via mix materials. Create a material mix in Graph editor and connect the material that has the diffuse translucent leave to one input and another material that has a very shiny material to the other input and you combine between them but not by much to make a glossy leave. Experiment until you get desired result. ;)

Hi,

This is what i got for now...
i have made some little changes on about everything and now i used pathTracing - not crashing above 1280 ;^)
but i cant seem to make this sheen effect work nor the translucency...
( when mixing 2 materials, i cant seem to have one glossy coat with just reflection while the other one underneath fully opaque with transmission ...am i missing some basic thing ?)

time to work on another pic now...
