How do you use it? The default 3dsmax hair seems to do nothing and I can't find a manual for the 2.0 plugin.

Thanks!

At the moment only Hair Farm and Ornatrix are supported.
I am working on standard hair and fur. Unfortunately api is very unfriendly.

Ok thanks for the clarification. Out of interest is support for rendering of 3dsmaxshapes/splines eventually possible as well then?

Good luck with the standard hair modifier too and we appreciate your efforts on this!

Nice to hear you are working on it.
Support for standard hair is the number one reason for me to update.

I have hairfarm here and octane 2, it does load very quickly, but It doesn't seem to add the 'in-between' hairs, just the strands / guides. Is there a setting somewhere to control how many hairs Octane renders?

- found it, just need to check the 'Show All Hair's box in display in the Hair Farm Generate modifier.
- there might be a better way to do this though as this seems quite slow.

Same for Ornatrix as well.
It just renders what you see in viewport. Both in Octane viewport and Render.
To render all hairs you have to see %100 of hair in viewport.
I can live with just rendering the strands / guides in octane viewport.
But it would be good to implement to render all hairs in render.
That's a bit sad.

I have Hairfarm 1 , the upgrade to Hairfarm 2 would cost me US$750.
I had a license for ornatrix a decade ago, not sure I can retrieve it.
please don't make Octane depend on the thousand max plugins.
We can't escalate like that on expenses for software, Can we ?
Sometimes I think Autodesk don't kill Max, (like Softimage murder) ,
only to keep us purchasing third party plugins, for a strange reason.
Only, Maya has it all, Alembic support, Bifrost, Renderman, I could go on...

Hair and Fur , is very unfriendly for the user as Well
but is the only one that is native to 3ds Max.
Therefore, Please, make it compatible !

For Ornatirx and Hair Farm - check "use object render settings" option in render settings.
