Modo Plugin v2.0?

I already owned the Octane Standalone and I am about to purchase the beta plugin for modo when I read in the T&C that this purchase will be for Octane v1.xx and beta plug-ins will allow a reduced upgrade cost to v2.0.

I understand Octane v2 may be just round the corner. When v2 is out does that mean that the modo plugin will also be elevated to v2.0 and I have to pay for the upgrade again?
Does it not mean that I could be paying twice within a short period? Or does it make more sense that I should wait til v2.0 is out?

hi bluescorpion, when 2.0 is released, upgrading the standalone from 1.x->2.0 will be 99€, the upgrade includes one previously purchased OTOY 1st party plug-in (either Maya, Max, Blender) from 1.x->2.0

The 3rd party plugins (c4d, Daz, Poser, Ligthwave, Modo, etc) may have different pricing but it's too soon to tell. They usually follow after the standalone so their respective price/upgrade will be established when their respective 2.0 versions are released.

Just done the upgrade to Octane standalone v2 and Modo Plugin. All seemed to go okay however Modo Plugin still reports its version 1.50.

Is this just because the about code has not been updated yet, or have I missed something.

It has additional tools such as render region and Mesh Freeze so I'm assuming its V.2.0.

Thanks,

Pat Doyle :)

Hi Pat - yes, the "About" screen is reporting the wrong version - but the actual release number at the bottom of the OctaneRender Setup window should be correctly reporting 2.0.9.x.

I've been away for a while busy with photo work and other projects not using Octane.

Does this mean the 2.0 plugin is free as long as I update the standalone to 2.0?

Also will it work with 701 as I haven't upgraded to 801 yet.

Hi Paul,

Many thanks and yes it is. Not really a problem just thought I had done something wrong but it was 6.30am and I hadn't had a cup of tea at that point. Looking forward to using this.

Thanks for all your hard work in bringing it to us, I know it can't have been easy.

Thanks,

Pat DOyle

I upgraded to Octane 2.0 and Octane Modo plugin 2.0. I installed Octane 2.0 standalong next to 1.52 (and doing no render they run both the same time) but did not install new Modo plugin yet. Do I have to uninstall Modo 1.5x plugin or 2.0 operates correctly without uninstalling 1.5x?

Version 2.0 of the plugin will install over the top of version 1.5. No need to uninstall 1.5.

Probably not, but is there a way to run 1.5 and 2.0 plugins side-by-side for testing purposes or for easy switching back to 1.5 if I hit a bug in 2.0 and need to get something rendered?
