780 6GB vs GTX Titan

Hi, apologies if this has been asked and answered elsewhere. I am about to add another gfx card to my existing system (currently running an old 560ti) and the 780 6GB seem to finally be trickling out into the wild.

From this http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gef ... 16-26.html it looks like the 780 almost keeps up, so is there any point (besides that small performance bump) that you'd get from going Titan instead?

GTX 780 6GB brings very good value for those who need more of vRam. Without thinkin' I would choose it over Titan (black). Apart from performance difference these cards are almost identical =)

I doubt Ti is going to come as it would be like.. it's bigger brother that cost more - but let's wait & we'll see =)

I have read (somewhere) that there will be a 780ti 6gb but this will be later in the year, a couple months away at least. The 780 6gb is out now depending on where you are.

It could be that way =) the reason being nVidia will have new, higher end a.k.a. maxwel cards, that what I see from mobile counterparts I believe will be 8GB. So from nVidia side they may chosee to brand out 780Ti 780 (that is alrready released jsut in different name, with higher price).

this is not any new tactics - 770 was rebranded 680 with several changes in software & different cooler design that went out for the price of 670 =) so.. I believe, they could rebrand bigger Titans for as 780Ti.

However by that time we'll probably have rummors comming or even nVidia will show next design/architecture & I don't think these Tis will be very desirable, unless You're going uinder budget - like now if You would decide to choose 770.

Nvidia is really lingering. They had a fast release cycle over the past 12 months and now things seem to have slowed... I would actually really consider a 4GB version of the GTX780Ti card. I mean I'm really waiting for the GTX780Ti 6 gb version, which is ideal. But memory seems to be a real cost factor on these cards and I think 3Gb seems to be an uncomfortable threshold for a lot of 3D rendering work - just not enough. Not that I think it would happen. Just shooting the breeze here while Nvidia decide on their future strategy... hopefully they announce something soon. Perhaps they're waiting for Siggraph.

I read somewhere on the EVGA forum that they plan to launch the 780 Ti 6Gb this summer.
