hi, this is my first post ...
I have a problem when I assign a material to an object emitter, the material I understand but the light does not illuminate the subject.
I hope I was clear, thanks

Could you post a screenshot, possibly with your material setup?
Only thing i can think off hand is to make sure the normal of the emiter is pointing the correct way.

this is what happens, I have applied the emitting material to the pictures so you can see that nothing happens on any of the items .... ps the strange thing is that on another file with the same procedure as the problem does not happen

I also wanted to add the problem occurs only with the standalone version, because the same process with the plug-in works rhinoceros

Hi Andrearuggio,

It could be a problem with the normals of the object, or the scale of the scene.
Perhaps during export and import the normals of that object are being flipped so the light is shining internally. You can check the normals using the info channel kernel. The faces will be colored based of the direction of the normal, so compare the light object with others in the scene that are the same orientation. Also, you could try the flip face normals setting in the obj import settings. This will flip all normals so I'm not sure if this will be correct for your scene, but it might give quick way to see if that makes the light shine outwards.

Another thing to check is the scale of the scene and the size of the emitter. If the scale is increased a lot during export and import, you will need to increase the power of the emitter a lot to get it to be bright enough. Try just increasing the power, then efficiency and texture and see if that changes anything. If so, you can change the scale in the obj import settings to get the scale better.

Thanks
Chris.

let's say that I solved by exporting obj with vertices welded, normal remain loyal to 3D.
thanks
