ZBrush and Octane (materials question)

Hi
Does anyone have any experience with using ZBrush with Octane render? I was hoping to be able to build a model in ZBrush, apply different materials to the mesh by using polygroups and then exporting the resulting object for loading in as a mesh in Octane render. However, when I load the mesh into Octane there is only one material channel.
The steps I went through were as follows.
1/ Build the model
2/ Use the Curve Slice brush to make different polygroups
3/ Select each polygroup and use Colour -> Fill -> Object to assign a different material to each polygroup
4/ Use UV Master to uV the model
5/ Export Mesh as an obj
5/ Import obj mesh into Octane
PROBLEM: only one material channel available.

IS there a step I've left out to enable those material channels in octane?
I'll post this same question in the ZBrush forum as well but would really appreciate any help
many thanks

Hi, I don't know Zbrush at all, but reading your post it looks like polygroups could be like vertex groups in Blender. If so, it is related to geometry parts, and it is different from cutting by materials.

Are you sure that you have no other export choice that you could try ?

I use zBrush but polygroups can have undesired results in your obj, usually I split the group in subtools. You can do this automatically by going to Tools -> SubTool -> Split -> Group Split
