Alembic files with Object layer.

Is it possible to use the object layer map to control object visibility with an alembic file?
We have it working with a .obj node. When we plug an alembic file into the object layer map node, it doesnt create the extra pins to plug the object layer node into.
We have an animation where the camera is outside of the wall, and the wall changes from a wall to a window wall. We want to control the visibility of the animated wall so that when the camera is located outside of it, you can't see the wall, but you still get accurate lighting. Then when the camera rotates around, we want to have the visibility back on so you can see the window or wall.
We were planning on have a couple different render targets for the different visibility settings for rendering our animation.
Does anyone know if it is possible to do something like this?
