Network rendering and upgrading to 2.0

Some pre-sale questions:

1. I saw that one of the features in v2.0 is network rendering. Does this mean there is no network support at all in v1.5? How about Backburner support or any other way to automatically send and receive renders to a server?

2. If I buy v1.5 now will I be eligible for a free upgrade to v2.0 when it comes out or should I just wait for v2.0?

3. Do you have any API/SDK at all or any way of embedding OctaneRender into a pipeline? Specifically, having software X send scenes in a proprietary format and receive renders back.

Hi Superflu,

1) Backburner should work (if you have a standalone and plugin license on each machine your rendering with). But octane 1.5 itself does not have any network rendering capablility built into itself. So anything where you just have the plugin installed on a bunch of machines and the host application splits the job up and spreads it around should, in theory, work.

2) No, you will not get 2.0 free, it will be a paid upgrade.

3) The only SDK there is, is the one that the plugin developers use, which is the octane core that they can talk to from the host application to get it to produce renders.
This is not publically available.

Thanks
Chris.
