Saving materials with 1.20.1.29 and SR8?

Hi Paul,

Can I download SR8 and save materials with plugin version 1.20.1.29?

If not, is there any other way to save materials with that plugin version?

Trying to find a way to back up my materials, as you introduce updated plugins...

Also, is there any way to expand the octane material tree window in Rhino? (I can't see but a small portion of the material tree within the window now.)

Last question (I'm sorry, I'm sorry...): how do I back up this scene for Octane 1.20 (besides saving as a 3dm file within Rhino)?

Thank you so much!
Nathan

Yes, SR8 should be fine with any version of the plugin you are using.

Expanding the material tree: it is a fixed height at the moment, but I have discussed with McNeel along with some other UI issues so there may be some changes is this area.

Backup: yes, just save as a Rhino file or make a backup in Windows Explorer.

Paul-
Count me +1 on expanding the material tree. That is one of the few interface bottlenecks that I always notice while working. All around a great plug-in and a permanent part of my rhino workflow now.

Hi James

I've spoken with McNeel of this a few times, and I don't think there is much that can be done with Rhino5 to make the tree size dynamic. It locks the screen window space of the tree. However I /can/ make the tree any size you want - it's just that it won't resize when you resize the Material panel. I'll add some more space to the tree in the next release.

Thanks Paul-
I think for me I'm always trying to get as much space for my materials list at top of the window AND for the node tree further down. Then I try to eliminate the empty space at the bottom of the window between "Node Type" and "load from LiveDB" and also the NOTES section which I rarely use (but probably should). It really isn't a bottleneck it's just something I futz with over and over trying to get a balance. Still it all works really well-good job!
