I am looking to use the new animation features in Octane with 3dsmax 2014, but I can't find a way to export to alembic. Does anyone know where I can get a free alembic plugin that will export my camera path?

haven't tested out, but at least new format is visible as an option =)
so I guess there shouldn't be a problem in 2014.
cheers

2013 = 2014.. All 2013 plugins are working in 2014.

Seems that the free plugin has some important limitations (e.g. no camera path export). According to my research the only way to go at the moment is Crate which is expensive.
Read yourself, from:
http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/3ds-Max-3 ... -p/4513817
Let me clarify.
The digital Frontier plugin is great and free , but it is not the alembic
complete solution at all,
it does not offer support for animated cameras or particles.
I am talking about an effective solution like Excortex crate, Which has
all those features ,
but unlike a Maya or Houdini alembic solutions is not free , it is a US$400
solution.
My point since the begginning and my question is.
Why Maya , Lightwave , Modo , Houdini, Realflow, even Speedtree
have DECENT support for
alembic , (now 1.5) and 3ds Max doesn't have ? Hope my explanation helped,
and that you consider
my question relevant.
I have clarisse on my pipeline, and I need softwares that have an alembic
solution, 3ds Max is the only one that need another plugin to work
properly.in Isotropix, forum I give a lot of details , about this annoying
subject,
The lack of embeded alembic support for 3ds Max 2014, it is already on
Autodesk wish list.

I'm not surprised at all.
At it's current state Max is more like an environment for plugins than a standalone tool.

theoretically you can write maxscript which generates lua script for camera animation
