C4D default light?

Hello there,

this is a real noob question, but since I purchased the octane Cinema 4D plugin in march 2013 I havent really been able to play arround with it :(

Anyways I am having a problem where there seems to be a kind of default lighting within a scene. I already deactivated C4Ds default light. But I suppose I am overlooking something really fundamental here but can“t get it to work right. The attached scene only inludes a cube, a plane and one light, so I thought it should only be lit by that one light, but somehow the whole scene is lit.

Any suggestions?

I am using C4D R15 and the octane renderer 1.20 although the Live viewer Beta within C4D says Beta 0.96 SDK 1.2

you're lucky because i can see your topic in unrelated section. I think you have never look any video or manual, right?

This is default lighting situation, if you haven't any light source. Light sources are DayLight, Environment or arealights. essentially, a arealight is mesh with emission texture.

Please check C4D forum which has a plugin publishing thread with many sources

Thanks Aoktar for your quick response :)
Sorry for posting in the wrong folder :/ next time I will post directly in the C4D plugin section. Maybe one of your admins can move this post there.

But also thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I changed the light source to an area light AND also added a C4D sun light with an octane day light tag (0.00 power). Might not be the most elegant solution but now everything works as expected :D
