Question concerning Octane / Modo-Plugin

Hi there,

i was wondering if octane (standalone or the modo plugin) also works with a 2013 Mac Book Pro (has a NVidia Card inside, do not know exactly which model right now)? I know that it won't be as fast as a dedicated machine with several big cards in it, but i want to know if it would work or if it wouldn't make any sense at all to use octane in my laptop?

thanks

hi, the modo plugin has not been released yet and is still in the works. So for now we can't emphasize enough that this speaks only for the standalone. Octane can run on the macbook pro, particularly the models that have a GeForce card and the nvidia Optimus technology allowing it to switch over from the integrated Intel HD Graphics to the GeForce card when high-performance visuals are needed. But of course, the experience would not compare to having a desktop with sevreal cards. For instance, the model that has a gt650m (384 cores), for most people, that would be a slow render. Here are some more inputs for you: http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=36301

With regards to the Mac version of the Modo plugin - it will be developed and released after the Windows version - so I would speculate it will be 3-6 months before it will be available.
