Background object?

Hi!
#1. Any ideas how to make the HDRI not seen by camera? (Normal way to check oft the traffic light doesn't work.)
#2. Any way to use some kind of background object? (When lighting a scene with HDRI and having just a colored background that doesn't influence the lighting)

I'd like to know the answer to your 1st question as well. I tried the Compositing tag to hide the Sky Object but it didn't work.
My workaround was to put a gigantic plane in the background (covering the HDRI) and then put a standard Cinema 4D material on it, because - as far as I understand it - those get ignored by the Octane render engine and they also don't affect it.

Compositing tag is not our tag, as i said.
in Kernel settings, enable alpha channel. Put a background object with standart material which has a image texture. And start render.
Also new sdk has a few option for visibility, i'll check for possibilities
samples pack has scene:
background_and_matte.c4d
check it please

In the kernel settings tick alpha channel and un-tick keep environment
(
http://render.otoy.com/manuals/Cinema4D/?page_id=82 settings are here)
This will mean you get full alpha where the HDRI would normally be shown.
Is that useful?
Thanks
Chris.
