Hi all

I have been using Poser and the Octane plug in since it was released. I have started to use DAZ for a few things and may be using it more, I have REality / LUX but its slow , very slow to render vs octane

Would anyone know if the plugings are fairly similar as far as lerning DAZ plugin, the main thing I would like to know is I have a bunch of .POC .POE skin builds id like to be able to import with the daz plugin, im assuming its doabale with out re building the skins?

Also do you feel the leaning curve with DAZ plugin would be fairly quick given im using the poser plugin?

thanks!

Right now I would say that the DAZ plugin has less features than the Poser one. At the other hand I find the DAZ plugin more intuitive to use.

I say "right now" because an update for the plugin is supposed to be released 'soon' (which may be anytime between few days to several months) and from what T3 shows in the spoilers a lot of the missing features (compared to the Poser plugin) will be added and then perhaps even some the Poser plugin is missing.

To answer your questions:
At this point, you will have to rebuild the skin materials in DAZ plugin for each scene you would like to use those in as the plugin lacks the ability to save/export (or load) the material settings from external sources (with the exception of the Octane LiveDB). But this is one of things that should change with the update.

As for the learning curve, well... As I mentioned above already, personally I find the DAZ plugin more intuitive to use so I think DAZ plugin has the upper hand here. But that is purely a subjective opinion based on personal experience with both products.

Hope it helps :)

I think both plugins are great - but cover quite different features, so some things the Poser plugin does, the DS one does, and other features the DS plugin has which the Poser one doesn't. The Poser plugin .POC file are not useable by the DS plugin, but Octane 1.22+ may see the ability for the plugins to swap materials - but if that happens it will be in a couple of versions time.

thank you both very helpful.

How is do skins look in DAZ on import, decent?

I think I am going to pick up teh plug in and check it out, like I said been using the poser one since release, I wont stop using that but DAZ has some content i want to use ;) that using in poser is eithe rimposible or difficult or crashes poser
even with DSON importer updated etc..

You are welcome.

As for skin, if you simply re-create the material in DAZ then you can have very good looking skin with SSS and all. The only problem so far is that you have to do it for each saved scene and figure over and over again as the material can't be saved at the moment (which should be solved in the update that is coming hopefully soon).

I own both Poser and DAZ plugin and I'm using DS 99% of the time despite of the current limitations, quirks and crashes.
