Are CUDA toolkit and drivers required?

Hi all,
It's been quite a while since the last time I tried Octane for 3DS Max and since I could not find an answer in the forum here I must ask- are CUDA toolkit and CUDA drivers required for the 3dS Max/ standalone versions of Octane to run as effective as possible?
I am currently running on a GTX 670 with the latest 331.58 drivers from NVidia.
1. Do I still need to download and install separate CUDA drivers and the CUDA toolkit for the plugin to function as effective as possible?
2. Would it make any difference in terms of rendering speed if I did the above?
3. Is there such thing as CUDA drivers anymore or they are bundled together with the normal drivers coming from NVidia?

Windows 7 64bit Ultimate, GTX670 with 331.58 drivers.

Thank you very much.

Hi

You just need for "normal drivers coming from NVidia".
