Does anybody know if there are any commercial, high quality Octane tutorials out there somewhere? Preferably for the Blender plugin.

I doubt it. Blender plugin is still in beta.
Check out the plugin manual. A lot of stuff is explained there.

I'm sure the manual is great as a reference guide for experienced users, but it's not relevant for beginners.
I think I know my way around Blender, but I still try to figure out how a basic thing like textures work in Octane. Here's what you get from the manual:
The plugin Interface allows you to work with Octane node three. An input of the node can be an immediate value (e.g. RGB-texture or Float-texture as default if no connection to this attribute exists), or sub-texture. You can work with nodes in the Node Editor, or in attribute editor rollout.
And it probably makes sense to you, but I'm new to Octane and would prefer an ordinary step by step guide showing how you actually achieve the results you need.
Then again, you're right, it's in Beta, so let's see...

If you don't know how to access Node editor, then I really suggest you to go through some Blender tutorials first.
Octane uses standard Blender Node Editor (same place as you would do your Cycles materials for example).
Nothig so special about Octane.

Hi justavisitor, will try to make a short video about the first steps using materials in Blender to Octane.
I post this in the Plugin Discussion/Support/Blender Thread.
I thing it is hard to get in if you don´t know Octane Standalone at all.
Cheers, mib.

Wow, that would be appreciated to no end, mib!
And yes, you're right, the best way would be to learn Octane Standalone first. I guess my excuse is that I bought the standalone and the plugin at the same time, and I've had a hard time, so far, convincing myself that I should learn a program (the standalone) that I'm not really going to use.
Again, thanks for your efforts! I'm sure such a video would be very helpful to lots of Blender users.

Everything you learn about working with Octane in the standalone version is very much relevant also for the (Blender) plugin version.

Thank you very much, mib - it's very kind of you and very helpful. I now know how to proceed, so that's exactly what I was looking for.

if you wish, as it addresses the fact that LiveDB can't be used commercially - a problem that you perhaps also would be interested in finding a solution for.

Thank you. I was not sure of that, so I was a bit afraid of learning a lot of functions only to discover that they didn't apply to the plugin version. There's only so much time...
