hello every one, I'm pretty new to Octane, I just update my Video Card and I just can't believe how fast it is working now, I tested different GPU software a so far Octane is way faster than the competition,

Now I'm still trying to develop a decent work flow between Max/Modo and Octane, do you guy can share some input regarding how to set up or pre-configure materials and scene before export to Octane?
My main problem is the camera I can't seem to export the camera I have to look all around the scene to find the element after import.
also I noticed that all the mesh get a very strong or even exaggerated AO effect, it is this regarding the materials? or it is the software
thank you
Fco.

When you buy the license ( if you do ) you will get access to max2octane script which will port over sunlight, camera position and materials with bitmpas on automaticly.

I have just yesterday made an request to the developer team about the AO and a set of user controls to adjust the intesity with a simple from/to colour ( like in all other apps Im aware of )
This would give you, provided it will be implemented - a nice and flexible custom solution to an AO pass you feel fit to use.
Currently you only have one option which is to dial up the Search area or down for the End colour which is fixed.

Lets see if we'll get this needed feature.
I hope so.

I see, well I'll try to get a license soon so I can keep playing with it then, I'm Mental Ray user but I'm interested in buy a unbiased rendering engine so I been playing with different of them.
The thing that worried me the most is the crashes that Octane has. any comment on that
thank you for your help
Fco.

actually it doesn't crash as much as you would expect for the posts in the forum, I work plenty with it, and hardly any crash or none, 6 days rendering a short animation without stop and not a single error or crash... and so on, but this is a beta, for a short time at least, and we are here testing and trying to see what happens when we do stuff it's not planned to do, so yeah there are crashes, but my autocad crashes plenty more, and people doesn't complain too much
