Hi Members, hi aoktar,

today I got a bluescreen while rendering with the newest Beta 0.96 Version and all my GPUs... occured the second time within 2 hours. I had NVIDIA Driver NVIDIA 320.49 installed. After the bluescreen, I changed back to NVIDIA 280.26, that was the version I always had stable renderings... i had bluescreen Issues in the past and thought it must have been related to the NVIDIA Drivers.

But now I get the error Screen above! And I have removed all other Plugins from the Plugin Directory, and I also tried to copy the dll files in the C4D Main Directory, nothing helps!! Tried also older Versions, with
Octane-for-C4D-beta-0.6.4-R14 for Example there is no error screen, but C4D doesn`t start, it shuts down after the C4D popup screen... newer Versions bring up the Error Screen.

Any Ideas what I can do and try???
I am in the middle of a production with a very tight deadline and now octane doesn`t run at all anymore...

Need help,
thanx,
ChrisVis

if you copied nvapi.dll this causes also problem. But you should'nt get this message if you don't have any plugin.

Hi aoktar,

thanx for the fast reply.
I don`t have any other plugin in the plugins dir.
If it is empty, C4D starts normal. If I copy C4Doctane folder in the plugins folder, C4D does not start up anymore.
If I use older version, like 0.50 beta, there is no error message but also no start up. With newer versions I get the error.
There must be something under the hood going on...

Are there any other C4Doctane files elsewhere installed, besides the oct.dat in the roaming directory??

Hi aoktar,

I didn`t copy the nvapi.dll in the main dir.
Could you list all files, that I should copy (or move?) in the Main Cinema4DR14 dir to try again?

But as I said, there is no other plugin installed and there seems to be another conflict.

did you try to remove all octane files and install with 0.96 installer? Blue screen remind me some HW problems, can you work standalone?

Hi aoktar,

good tip... nope, Standalone doesn`t work either and it gives some cuda problem error.
"Der Prozedureinsprungpunkt "cuTexRefSetAdress2D_v3" wurde in der DLL "nvcuda.dll" nicht gefunden"

Means, there is something missing in the nvcuda.dll, an entry point.
All my GPUs are there and active... so there might been damaged some driver thing because of the crash?

Maybe I try to reinstall a newer NVIDIA Driver again, hope that helps.
If you have any other suggestions from this error message, please let me know.

Thanx!!

Hi aoktar,

Octane is running again. I reinstalled the NVIDIA Driver, did a full reinstall, and switched to 320.18.
No error screen on start up anymore and all GPUs are there.
But after 3 Minutes of rendering I got a bluescreen again... and 2 GPUs are off.
I dunno If it is a real hardware problem, but it seems to. Now I am rendering with 6 GPUs and its fine... but not fast enough for my deadline ;(

One thing I mentioned: The stats GUI over the Live Viewer Picture disappeared for the last days, before the first bluescreens happened, although it was ticked on in the "others menue". It just didn`t show up anymore.
Now it is there again... dunno if this gives any info...

I might have some hardware and nvidia driver problem?

Also I noticed that my Focusrite Firewire Audiointerface started to blink, just before the bluescreens happened and audioplayback got stuttering. Maybe there is also a problem with the Nvidia HD Audiodriver and my firewire audio driver?
I also tried not installing the NVIDIA HD Audiodriver, but this caused even more Problems.

Turned my audiointerface off now for more testing.

Which NVIDIA version do you use?
I think the older versions bypassed GPU errors or GPU VRam errors... the newer version seem to be less tolerant and cause bluescreens, if there is any failing? My hottest GPU is about 72 degrees (GTX590), the other one of the same card about 68 degree. Thats the card that sometimes disappears... but sometimes its another card... so I don`t get it.
I had more than 10 days continuous rendering with all GPUs two month ago`without problems, now it makes trouble again. Very strange... only thing I changed was the NVIDIA driver Versions... now it seems I don`t have one that is working stable with all my GPUs... 280.26 was the one I had best rendering performance with, but now it gives me the startup error.

Did you change anything in the last C4Doctane versions, that needs newer NVIDIA driver or newer CUDA?

Hope to get my work done,
see you later,
ChrisVis
