No displacement in IPR?...

Is there some hidden way to get displacements in IPR?.. have to keep F9-ing while setting up scene... D'oh!

I'm doing rain water (displaced specular) running off of something (like little waterfalls), and being able to see tweaks in IPR would rock. I never noticed that this wasn't there before...

What kind of deformations? ... object deformations should be shown in the IPR while timeline scrubbing, for animated parameters in the materials you need to enable the update materials switch in the IPR.

Also if scene is not complex you can enable the switch to full reload scene, also available in the IPR window.

Maybe I should have mentioned that they are subdivided.. and hit with displacement.. stats show 645,000 polys.. 120mb of object memory...

With this complex object full scene reload is not an option, but deformations should work in the IPR.

I guess I should have said displacement rather than deformations.. I am animating displacement on subd (setting of only 2) geos...

Does that change things?..

Edit: Changed title of thread to displacement.

So you have an object with SDS and a displacement map animated using the displacement available in the material node editor, right?

I am going to test it, but I am not sure about if in this case IPR is going to update the mesh. You can also try to apply the displacement using the object properties, not the material node editor.

Sorry, I was away for a bit.. No, I am doing displacement in Object Properties > Displacement Map (Node) > Turbulence 3D

Works perfect in F9/F10.. fails in IPR

To recreate: make a plane with a couple hundred polys, hit with subd and add 3D Turbulence.

Here animated displacement works in the IPR when you scrubb the timeline.
Can you test this scene that works for me?

Hmmm.. sure enough, it is working!.. I will double-check, then triple-check if needed, if I have something set wrong.

Thanx so much Juanjo!! It will be so nice to see displacement in my scene when I get this working..

PS - any way motion blur could be added to LW like Jim did in Maya plug? Does LW have the capacity to do what Jim did?.. I asked him if he could pass anything along to you so that maybe you could do the same... he never responded to that...
