3 point lighting/spotlights etc

So I thought I saw someone in a post say they had used spotlights (in the standalone). I can't find the post so I don't know who it was.

I'd like to use 3 point light (keylight for "sunlike" light), fill light for shadow control and backlight for edginess.
When I tried to use mesh emitters I wasn't getting much light out of them even setting the light to 100,000.

Anybody else been using lighting other than the default lighting able to provide any tips?

Probably the most efficient and effective lighting usage is HDR option. With the help of programs like HDR Studio or others You can simulate desirable look, export map and use it inside Octane =)

on the other side mesh light should work, but maybe You get wrong scale into Octane, maybe camera parameters are off =) try to play.. but there are no spotlites (infinately small light sources =) as these are 'physically incorect' =)

Hi, if you get not much light from a mesh emitter often the normals show in wrong direction.
For spotlights you could use IES files, Distribution > Float Image > IES file.
