Does OR 1.20 Break Max2Octane?

I am a regular user of Octane in C4D and also have the integrated plugin for C4D. There, everything works fine.
However, sometimes I am given a project that requires Max and so I get the plugin demo and in the process try to sell these MaxVray heads in the room on how great Octane is. Well, to my dismay and embarrassment, when I try to demo the plug alongside one of the workhorse scripts in this project... bam. Windowpop " Please Close Octane Viewport" I close it. Then again... bam. "Script has stopped working possible recursion error" Max locks and burns...
Okay. So I figure it must just be live view. I have used Ocatne with Max2Octane with the same setup before and it worked great in the past. So I set that up and yup it sends the job to Octane fine until... bam.
All the max materials are specular. Glasshouses everywhere... ( no pun intended ) What gives? I have been with the Beta since way back so I'm not sure when or what it broke with material handling out of Max.
