list of Octane 3ds features supported and missing?

I've got a license for Octane with Lightwave, and am interested in trying with with 3ds 2012 (as Lightwave refuses to fix their joint systems to be compatible with MotionBuilder, ahhh).

1. Is there a list of features that are supported and also those missing?

2. To try the demo, as I already own the stand-alone, are there any instructions I need to follow to avoid messing up my working installation?

3. Any feedback with how 2012 works with Octane?

I'm trying to decide whether to continue with 3ds 2012 (really like BonesPro for skinning), purchase 2014, completely abandon 3ds and move to something a bit less buggy like Houdini that offers daily builds and bug fixes within days (but only Arnold and Maxwell for unbiased, sadly no Octane or GPU renderer).

BTW - I'm having a bit of trouble trusting AD after they pulled all my 'permanent' links and combined the different 3ds years into a single forum, making it much harder to search - along with the missing promised (they pulled the thread) last update for 2012 that would fix the CAT bugs (the whole reason I bought 3ds to begin with).

Any comments on your thoughts of 3ds' future would be appreciated.

Hi,

1) As far as octane features go the 3ds max plugin is upto date with the 1.20 features.
2) There shouldn't be any problems. The 3ds max demo's files are isolated to 3ds max only.
3) I will leave this to an experienced 3ds max user to answer.

Thanks
Chris.

There is no problem with max 2012 and octane for max 1.20. I am using both in work and at home. You just need to install service pack 2.0 for max 2012 thats all.
