360° Panorama - How?

I thought it is possible with latest Octane (I usethe 3dsmax plugin) to do a Spherical Camera setup for full 360° panoramas out of the box without using other tools or render 6 images. But I have problems and don't find any solution. :(

I place an Octane Camera, use the Spherical as Camera type and let the target face away from my camera.
Then I use fov 180 and fovY also 180.
But shouldn't FovY not be 360?? To my knowledge a spherical camera has 180x360 degrees.
I can't enter higher values than 180. :(

Really need help here. :)

Okay, set fov to 360....works now. Never mess with 3D stuff while you have a cold. :D

Basically I solve about 40% of my problems right after I made a forum post and keep working on the problem.

hello,

i know this is an old thread but i just started with 3dmax and octane and have the same problem now.
Whatever i try i cannot enter more than 180 into the "fov y" field of the spherical octane camera in 3dsmax, but I need to render a full 360 sphere.

How have you finally made it? Does anyone else knows the solution?

Hi svenart,

SPHERICAL:
set standard camera to spherical
in camera > set FOV 360 FOVY 180 > Set stereo distance to 0,065 > check "Keep upright"
Set output size > WxH=2:1 - High quality 4096x2048

if you want spherical stereo:
in camera > set Stereo "Over-Under"
Set output size > WxH=1:1 - High quality 4096x4096

CUBEMAP CAMERA STEREO:
set standard camera to Cube map
in camera > set FOV 60 FOVY 60 > Set stereo distance to 0,065 > check "Keep upright"
in camera > set Stereo "Side-by-Side"
Set output size > WxH=12:1 - High quality 18432x1536

Regards
Paride
