Revit ->3DS??? ->Linux Octane node?

Hi all: Long-time lurker, first-time poster,

I have been using Revit+AutoCAD+Photoshop to produce most of my marketing materials for architectural projects since 2012; however I am looking to progress, and am slowly moving all this to REVIT + 3DS max design.
I have also recently switched/upgraded/downgraded :) to a mobile workstation and moved all my Autodesk licenses/apps over, as a result my old workstation (desktop) is basically headless, and rarely used/collecting dust.

Is it possible to use my old (but still powerful) desktop workstation in the following setups:

=1=
Mobile workstation modelling in REVIT -> 3DS design max -> 3DS Octane plugin -> network render queue manager -> desktop w/ LINUX octane engine.

=2=
mobile workstation REVIT -> REVIT Octane Pluging -> Net/node mngr -> desktop w/ LINUX Octane engine

I'm after a set&forget&collect workflow achieved with cloud rendering with zero downtime from submitting to starting setup on the next image.
NB: I need Linux on the old workstation for a variety of reasons; but it also seems to outperform windows on all fronts.

=3=
last question, can I dream of cutting 3DS from the workflow once the revit octane engine is here? or am I dreaming?

Thanks for your time,

Using the Revit plugin will be vastly quicker and easier than the workflows you have listed above. It will be released very shortly.

Thanks Paul!

I will wait then: will any implimentation of Octane (& plugin) allow me to use the spare cycles of my Linux server to offload render jobs?

Perhaps this is already straightforward using network render job manager?

Hi Andrew

At some stage, it may be possible to export from the Revit plugin to OCS, in which case you could render on your Linux version of Octane Standalone. But for the Revit plugin, you'll need Windows (since that's the only OS Revit runs on), so you'll need to do your rendering on the Revit machine. Not that that is a big issue - I've found external Revit renders to be very fast with Octane. Internal scenes with emitters take a little longer, but still, the number of polygons is not that high with Revit geometry (unless you import and scatter grass or tree OBJ objects).
