Scene size factors?

Just wondering what will make a scene grow in size.
What kind of a scene would use 6GB, 3GB, or 1GB. Is there an average scene size? What factors determine scene size?
Thanks

It would be a combination of the amount of geometry and the textures. From what I have seen it would tend to be texture sizes that will get you first. I have done a 12 Genesis figure render (each with different textures) and that just about fitted. I have also failed to do one of a 'simple' interior (Anderson Hall) due to running out of VRAM.

Some others would need to confirm, but it appears that resolution definitely
plays a part. Twice I went to render scenes at spread ad res (17x11 @ 300)
and my 1GB cards failed... had to knock down res to 4200 pix wide before
they would render - then scale in PS - which still looked sweet (Octane stuff
scales soooo nice, when needed), but always better when you can go full res.

Good to know about scaling down size of final renders when dealing with bigger scenes, and taking textures into consideration.
Thanks for feedback.
