for "Pepoli_s1" pathtracing
Pepoli_s2 for "pmc

Both were calculated up to 5000 samples in about 1h.

Slightly overstated aperture you can add colors and brightness.
Reflections are not very many, you can increase the caustic to 1, it will give an advantage to the hot pixels.
Wood color - not a great success.
You can add colored lights. you used the standard light, try maybe colored spot
