C4D plugin: Light not coming through Window material

Hi again. Sorry to keep making posts, bur I've got a scene where I want light to shine through the windows, but even though the window is semi-transparent and I can see through it, light won't come through (No shadows)
I've attached an image. You can see that the glass is blue. Now I know it's a bit dark, but even if I make it completely invisible, the shadows from those bars still can't be seen. I know they should be able to appear because I completely erased the geometry of the glass and the shadows appeared just fine.
Any suggestions?

Hi Dreamcube018,
I think you have to enable transmission to have light coming through the glass material. You should not need to lower the opacity to get the windows transparent or light coming through.
Also you should update to Version 0.69b (get it in the Version 0.69 thread), there are some improvements... I do not know if 0.50 has the fake shadows option... enabling this helps sometimes with certain glass issues.
Also check your kernel settings and the glossydepth... it should be at 4 minimum.
Hope that helps with your problem, could not go deeper with your screenshot and the info given.

Hi Again Dreamcube018!
This has been a point of discussion over the last little while.
Fake shadows is a relatively new option and I don't think it's compatible with the c4d plugin demo version (until a new demo version is released).
In the past, you are correct, using opacity was helpful (and still is depending on what you are doing). Without fake shadows, the only lighting you get through a specular object is entirely caustics. This is very time consuming to render. The fake shadows option allows for lighting behind glass, by giving some light that is not a caustic. It is not affected by IOR and works well for interiors where you have glass but aren't interested in the caustics through the glass, you just want to light the room.
Hope that makes sense!
Thanks
Chris.

Thanx Fooze,
didn`t read that this is in the demo version subforum... so demo is still 0.50.

Thanks guys. I'll check in the .69 thread but I don't think that works with the demo as stated above. The latest demo version is .5b. I know I'm asking a lot for just using the demo, but I really wanna make sure everything works as this is a great tool. $360 may not seem like a lot to some, but for a hobbiest that still has to pay for college classes and only a single GTX 560, it's kinda steep. So yeah, just wanna get everything working. Hm, the 1.2 version of Standalone is out. Maybe I can export it as an OBJ and mess aroudn with it in there. That'd be pretty cool. Can't remember if it's possible to do camera flythroughs in there or not. I don't mind the watermarks for the moment. I just wanna see if I can get a fully working scene in it.

Hello,
I am writing English using Google Translate, my mother tongue is German.
I also have the problem that although glass is transparent, but no caustics come.
The light does not penetrate through the glass.
I have the SDK and 1:20 for the latest C4D 0.7.2b.
Where can switch off the fake shadows in C4D or something because I can not be?
I'm still in the trial phase.

Hi Rudi,
If you want accurate caustics, you will need to change the kernel to path tracing or PMC.
By default the fake shadows is off. If you turn it on you will loose accurate caustics.
The fake shadows setting is not listed in the material editor, you need to find it in the attributes window:
