Fragmented rendering (rendering in chunks)

Hey all,
I would like to post a suggestion for an addition to Octane: fragmented rendering.
When a scene in Octane is full of stuff, VRAM can easily add up.
The problem arises when going to a higher resolution for the final render image.
VRAM size isn't always sufficient! Rendering at something very large for a poster, say 8192x4096, can create big problems with a shortage of VRAM. And rendering at something smaller, say 2048x1024, to fit it into VRAM is such a pity...
So that's why I'd like fragmented rendering, in other words rendering in chunks.
For example, say you'd like to render at 4096x2048 and your VRAM wouldn't cut it... then it'd be great to be able to let Octane render in chunks (say 1024x1024), each with a pre-defined number of samples. When done with rendering all the chunks it would tie the chunks together to create the final image.
Thanks,
