Stumbled into rendering cartoon outlines inside Octane

Hey all,

So I was playing around with the different features of Octane to try and setup some kind of optimized pipeline (pre-set lighting etc) to enhance my workflow for architectural renders.

When playing with the dirt texture, I tried inverting it because I was curious what would happen exactly. As it turns out, you can create pretty awesome cartoon like outlines on your models this way. This can be very useful for architects, when rendering elevations and section cuts!

There are some errors in the model normally invisible, but I think it shows the idea pretty well.

Thanx for showing... nice... Sometimes architects only want sketchy visuals indeed... This is a way to go :mrgreen:

I tried doing this a few months ago too, to make plain white renders easier to read, amongst other things. A kind of mix between realism and cartoon. For example:
