Hi,
Caustics are in Max and the standalone (both have the same core rendering engine).
Generally to get the best caustics, use the PMC kernel for rendering.
Sorry we don't have an ETA on the latest demo.
Most likely there will be a new standalone demo released after version 1.2 is finalized and released as a stable version.
Thanks
Chris.

It should be in the octane render settings, but you will need to change the kernel to PT or PMC first.
Thanks
Chris.

I thought so, but there is no caustic blur setting.
I've changed to pmc of course then to pt.
Is this setting present in current version but not in demo?

Hi noisemaker,
My apologies, I was under the impression that the 3ds max demo was of version 1.0, which has the caustic blur setting, but the demo is from before this setting was made available.
Updating the 3ds max demo is on our list of things to do - most likely it will be updated when the standalone (and plugin API) version 1.2 is finalized (hopefully in the coming weeks).
Again, sorry for steering you wrong here.
Thanks
Chris.
