Couple of really useful improvements for my workflow:
-Region Render
-Vertical shift for the camera (to create 2-point perspective)
-Global Material override (quick AO pass etc.)

Vertical shift for the camera is already available: lensshift.

- global material overide /not one buttun solution, but it doesn't take more than half a minute..
throw new render target, hook everything, but render kernel - make new, DL type; & copy mesh node, make new mat, conect to every available pin on mesh..- that's it! as I said =) it's not one button solutin, but if You keep Your 'tree organized, it takes very little time =)
so, two out of three =) as for render region agree it is something that could be usefull =)..

Hey Thanks guys. I previously played with the lens shift but it doesnt preview in the viewport so I ignored it - genius
I'm working in 3ds max so no render nodes. I usually save the project as a separate file for material overpasses but it's kind of a pain...

On second thought, how does the lens-shift work? It seems to just parallel shift the view frustum and not really affect the vertical perspective lines...

Am I missing something?

Make sure your camera and target are with same height (y coordinate); this way you will have vertcal lines and no angled perspective. Now you can use lensshift to kove your camera up/ down and left/right keeping the vertical perspective lines.

Lightwave plugin has global material override and I think limited region can be implemented via plugin too by creating new camera which would render just this desired part of an image.
