OcDS - issues with the last release...

hi everybody!

apparently there are issues with the latest release; i'd need to get some more feedback about who sees them and also who not have them, along with some details about config & studio version.

1. "shutting down threads" spinner pops up at some point and doesn't go away any more. means studio needs to be stopped via task manager; what would help are copies of the studio log file right after that happened (zipped and via pm pls). in addition if it happens not/on start/on load/on close.

2. the plugin interferes with the ds viewport, like stopping it from updating.

3. animations get stuck at some point (saves the same frame over and over).
i already have a fix for this one, just am keen to find out what may be the main reason - since i can not reproduce it myself.

what i'd like to know is:
- studio version.
- does ds start with a blank/default/own default scene (or is it started by opening a scene)?
- single/multi/_dedicated_ gpu in use (latter means octane is activated only for gpus not serving displays).
- the refresh setting in the plugin preferences: 2hz - slow pc/5hz/10hz - fast pc.
- does deactivating live geometry help regarding pts. 1 + 2?

I also have some problems

System hangs with Pop up resulting in killing the process
I run DS 4.6 Pro
10 HZ
2 GPUS fully dedicated to Octane

The popup only appear if I load DAZ with a scene. If I deselect teh live Geometry update everything seems to work fine

4.6 DS, blank scene, I rarely open from a scene file. 1 Nvidia card to render, 1 intel for display (though technically the nvidia is powering an unused 3rd display)

Refresh is set to 10hz fast pc

1. I've mostly seen this happen at startup when i forget to uncheck the live updating button. Are you talking about startup or at anytime? If so I can get a log later. Yes disabling live update fixes the issue.

2. May have happened, but not enough for me to take note of it.

3. Yes this happens a lot and is a bit scary :(

I've noticed that I regularly get to a point when octane is no longer allowing me to update materials, so I have to restart a ton.

The issue where you can't merge files "with itself" is becoming more apparent for me. I always thought this meant merging File01 with File01 is what caused the issue, but now I see that it doesn't have to be literally the same file at all, they just have to be related somehow.(like they have a common base, but have been changed a dozen times)

The DS viewport is then always showing the background (white) without any UI elements in the viewport area.
Same thing happen to me.

DS 4.6.0.18 - 64 bit
Windows 8 . After loading a scene. But after closing DS and restart it, can fix the issue, or sometime, just click on render wiewport it show octane viewport and also ds viewport.
But sometime, octane viewport stuck at building geometry and all is blank. need to restart DS then.

Multi GPU. (not tested with single first)
Was by default on 10hz
Deactiving live not help.

Have not had this issue since recieving the debug build..

..yet :lol:

Drag n drop seems to stop your plugin render window from updating some mat additions, I know you are aware of this anyway ;) However, draging from the LDB to the scene surfaces list allows me to add mats to a surface that would not apply during drag n drop to rendering viewport. As seen in the post you saw the other day (http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 7&start=40).

Once again, since recieving the debug build (v1.0.113.2305) I have had NO issues rendering animations so far. As you know I completed over 4000 frames the other day and since then have rendered another couple of animations (between 300-900 frames each) with complete success :D

-Ds is set to start up with out creating or loading a default scene but a default camera IS created.
-GTX 660 Ti -2GB (System display & rendering)
-Refresh rate: 10 Hz (Fast PC)

Well I just tried the following:

I had this ticked & things seem to work fine. I unchecked this and the the plugin render viewport just said "waiting.." and did nothing, I could close the render window with out Ds crashing.The 2nd time I opend the render viewport (with live geometry updates unchecked) it was acting as if I had not unchecked this option and I was indeed still recieving live updates in the render viewport!

Yes, frequently.
I start DS and first Open Viewport with blank scene, and next load the saved scene, the probability of this hung-up occurs is reduced.

2. the plugin interferes with the ds viewport, like stopping it from updating.
Yes. rarely converting material runs infinite.

3. animations get stuck at some point (saves the same frame over and over).
Sometimes stoped, but it occurs at different frame.

- studio version?
DAZ Studio 4.6.0.18 x64 w/ Windows 8

Yes.

- single/multi/_dedicated_ gpu in use ?
2GPU in PC, only 1 GPU(GTX 670 4GB) is active at OcDS system tab.

- the refresh setting in the plugin preferences ?
10hz

- does deactivating live geometry help regarding pts. 1 + 2?
for 1, It seems to improve the situation , 2 is uncertain.

#3 happening - can't seem to prevent it...

#2? re:plugin interfere?... often, when I start daz, it won't update the viewport -> until I start the plugin. Then they both work.

how can I fix #3?

ver: 4.6.0.18 Pro (64bit)
started: blank (too many issues with the previous plugin switching scenes - probably solved now)
gpus: I have 2 (GTX 670 & GT 640). Only 670 checked with [X] Use prioritization. (vram is 714 of 3911), textures 22 of the first bar of 144.
refresh setting: 10-fast (i7)

update: once it gets into a bad renderset, it doesn't allow the 'Stop Animation Rendering' button from working. I have to [X] close the viewport to cause the plugin to ask if I want to end animation. And nothing I do gets it to re-render properly, or recover... until I uncheck my primary graphics card, apply, recheck it and reapply. [edit]: that worked once... the only thing that works is File->New to unload the current scene, then reload it again and start from where it left off.

also, every time I restart an animation, the samples get reset to 16000 even though it says 200 (what I want). I need to + - it each time before animation.

[edit] 3 hrs later - can't get to even 1/3rd of my 630 frames - barely a few frames before getting stuck... I would be happy to try a private beta/fix.
