sounds like a question for a different forum :) but in my experience with hackintosh you will need to update your - whatever they're called... device strings or something - to reflect the new card. there are programs (Universal Installer is one, i believe) that do most of the work for you, and you just pick which video card you have from a big list.

There are some tutorials ,,how to install Fermi on hackintosh" on google. You don't need some GFX Strings to put in the drivers and that's all you don't have to reinstall the system. I have a GTX 275 1792 MB running under 10.6.4 :P and it works super well.

PS: I'm very very curious how a Quadro FX 580 or similar performs in maya under hackintosh machines :D :D

Hey! What hardware do you have, in order to run OS X on it (motherboard, processor, ram...)?
Can you share a link or something with info? I haven't luck in the past installing OS X on a PC :(

mobo: MSi Neo 2 FR-FIR P35
CPU: Q6600 G0 @ 2,4 GHz
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 275 1792 MB HDMI
Ram: 8 GB DDR2 4x2 A-Data G series @ 800 MHz
PSU: Corsair 450W VX
Case: Recom PowerStation Evo

I'm using 10.6.4 right now and the system is using OSX SL since... 8-9 months I guess :D and I never had a system crash like a kernel panic os something similar. Also maya and other software were stable until 10.6.4 came out and octane starts to crash ( my only crash on 8-9 months) . I never used windows since I installed OSX and I'm very happy with it. I also like the way how OSX is build and how it's organized. But I still miss something from windows and that is an audio system equalizer and nvidia control panel  .
