Hi,
This is just feedback showing a result of Proxy testing.
I wish I could replicate the steps and tell you how many clicks it took to get to here starting from an empty PLN file :D
The funny thing is after having done the Proxies and OR settings; it is just one click away to get from the top to the bottom image: "open viewport"
greetz,

Hi Paul,

I tried to test proxy by using modules,
but I found out it is not possible to save a file as MOD with the proxy information.
Is that on purpose not or and is a feature that possible?
That way you can make a Module of an object with proxy and insert a module into a scene and copy it many times.
It is easy to change an object (that is used many times) by just changing the module and its proxy.
In archicad it is nice to work with modules, i.e. when the scene is very large or just to make the workflow easy on splitting the scene into modules (.i.e. every building is a module). In that case it would be nice to have the proxy work in the modules too.

greetings, Jeroen

wOw!!! Nice feature! I have tried Maxwell for a while and the demo of Octane... and finally I have purchase Octane but I miss the "reference" of Maxwell and now... I have proxy. Proxies of Octane work in a smart form that "refence"... Good job.

Wow - nice render!

I am in the process of modifying the proxy material system, so proxies with the same OBJ name will share the same pool of material names (and therefore share the same Octane materials). But different obj filenames will not. So a material "leaf" for tree.obj will be the same actual Octane material as that for another instance of tree.obj in the scene. But material "leaf" for anothertree.obj will be a different Octane material to "leaf" for tree.obj. That way you will be able to put some variation into the Octane materials.

Also - for the brick fence you could use the photoshop or GIMP tool to convert the bumpmap to a normal map - which will bring out the details in the brick fence shape some more (and plug the resulting file into the "normal" pin of the brick material).

And for the leaves on the tree, a small amount of sss or opacity might look good.

Another try. The dog and the tree are proxy, all ok. Only one thing its not posible to reduce a .obj in mm in a scene in meters, the scale only work from 100 to 1 but no decimals... isnt it?
Maybe you fix it easyly.
(sorry for my english)

Very nice. I have another build I am testing which has better adjustment of size, and has sliders which update the scene live, so you don't have to keep going in and out of the Proxy dialog to see the effect of changes.

At the moment the smallest you can scale a proxy is to 1% of it's normal size. Is that still to large? Do you need to go smaller than 1%?

In the case of the bulldog the original obj was in mm. and my scene was in meter... so the bulldog was to big yet. I open the .obj and save with meters scale and its ok.
