A few questions

Ok, I'm looking to jump in on the $140 deal on the software. I just want to clear up some things:
- 1 - I am not familiar with the RIB format, does it support multiple UV's on a surface? I saw that the application supports OBJ as well which is one UV per surface.
2 - Can a user create his/her own import plugin for images/3D formats?
Thanks for all who reply.

I can answer number 1: Yes i think RIB supports multiple UV`s on a single surface.

I'll DL the demo and mess with this RIB format when I get home. I hope it's all it says it can be.

Hi,
Sorry, but the DEMO does not support RIB.
You will have to wait until we release our first commercial versions of octane next month for RIB support...

Hi,
to avoid opening another post, i'll ask my set of few questions:)
- Octane demo does not support BUMP tex channel (yet)?
- Can i use images with alpha? Like simple planes with UV mapped tree texture.
- Considering OBJ (MTL) importer, are there any guidelines for material settings from other 3d apps.
(if not, i can put some basic stuff for Blender)
- Mesh lights - will there be any?
- Motion blur will be added in Octane 1.0?
As I'm preparing scene for competition, i can use advice how to fake motion blur?
I like Octane very much and hope for great future. Hope to stay at great price too
All the best to Refractive software team!
tnx

radiance, your a fast programmer! you mention bump map support - so does this include tangent space normal map support in the first beta also?

I hope the user doesn't mind but I would like to use this thread to pose some questions too, instead of opening another.
- How does one setup glass?
- How does one remove an object from the scene and actualize it? I remove the node yet it keeps on the scene.

Hi,
Glass is another material juse like diffuse and glossy called 'specular'.
export with normals from your host app to get good results.
Next updates will offer object swapping functionality.
