Shadows in bumpmaps question

Hi, I'm not sure this is a bug or something I'm doing wrong, but everytime I add a bumpmap to a material, the shadow on that object looks weird to me (too sharp)
I've attached a picture that shows what I'm talking about...
I'm even using a material directly downloaded from Ocane Live DB

So... Is it normal?

Thanks in advance ;)

Using 3dsMax 2012+Octane for 3dsmax 1.0

That is not a bug. This is a limitation of bump.

I am also seeing this problem. Is there a work around yet? Would using a normal map instead of bump map solve the issue?

I found bluring the bump map helped at the loss of detail though.
It is I'm sure a bug, as I've never had this problem with any other render engine.

I agree. NOT a limitation of bump maps in other programmes I use. A limitation of bump maps in Octane fir sure. Let's get some effort into fixing this.

In the standalone Octane I always play with the rayepsilon value. That usually does the trick, at least for me.
