[Hardware] multi GPU question

Hi,
I'm planning to build a multi-GPU PC.
I was thinking that Octane would add the Vram from all the GPU, as it will do for the Cuda's cores, but somebody given me some doubts about it...

Could you please help me?

I was thinking about starting with 2*GTX690 (2*4Go, then) since these card gets more Cuda than GTX TITAN...

(All my apologizes for my approximative english, I hop it's still understandable...)

Edit : Ooops, I found the answer here : http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=9515. All cards must have enough Vram to load the scene.... Well... I think 4Gb isn't that bad... but is there any tests between GTX 690 and GTX Titan with Octane?

Code: Select all

4Gb isn't that bad
The two cards in one GTX 690 share the 4 GB, you get only 2 GB for Octane.
One TITAN is faster than one GTX 690 and you have the full 6 GB.
Here is a test TITAN vs. GTX 680, keep in mind in 690 each chip is down clocked.

Search the forum for TITAN.

Cheers, mib.
