Urban Project - first try...

Hi everyone !
I often do images of single or grouped houses, but I've never worked on "urban project" images.
Here's my first try (with heavy post-prod).
While "playing" with the filters in post-prod I got a nice "arty" touch (second image), so I'm also posting it.

This is not a WIP, but as this is my first try, could you give me some advice/tips on how to make that kind of images look great ?
Many thanks, read you soon guys !

Hi Madcoo,
the artistic "touch" gives the render the aspect of a paint (and it's really nice). I think that it's better use this kind of effect than use a bad "photoreal" render
Unfortunately no suggestion for enhance the quality (or realism) of your render (the more complex is the scene and more is the effort needed to make the render comes out great), maybe you should first try to concentrate on the realism of a single part (or building) of your scene, then begin to expand your view.

Hi Paolo and thanks for your reply.
In fact the aim here is
not pohotorealism, but classic "commercial" or "promotional" imagery.
I know I should be using Artlantis (or any "non-photorealistic" renderer) for that kind of job, but I'm so comfortable now with Octane that I just want to use it for all my renders - be they realistic or not...
I wished to have some tips on how to make that kind of promotional images, such as the following examples I found on the web :

I think that is only a matter of practice, I have tested just one exterior render and after five or six different attempts about illumination come out a nice work
http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic. ... o+farmacia
unfortunately it's a close view of a building, probably enlarging the view and adding some other particular, the result would be worst.
I think that the better way is to practice with some archexterior scene converted into octane (the fact of having a referring point, the vray render, permits to be "guided" through the attempts.
Cheers, Paolo

Certainly good for first exterior (few attempts with illuminationg it)....sometimes I think that it was more a matter of lucky than skills; after that I tried to convert some archexterior scene and "play" with them, but just one or two of they look nice (just nice, not good), the other are simply horrible!
...have to practice a looooooooot lot more
